E minor chord on piano
The E minor chord is made of three notes: E, G, B. Counting up from the root, that is three semitones then four. Play it with your right thumb on E, middle finger on G and little finger on B. The same shape gives you any minor chord from any starting note.

How do you play E minor on the piano?
Put your right thumb on E, your middle finger on G and your little finger on B, then press all three together. Fingers 1, 3 and 5. Keep the hand relaxed and let the arm carry the weight rather than pushing with the fingers.
What is the difference between E minor and E major?
One note. The middle note moves by a single semitone. In E minor the middle note is G; in E major it rises one semitone. That single semitone is the whole difference between the bright sound and the sad one.
